The Energy You Put Out

Last week Viva Vida had a team meeting to catch up. Between fully renovating homes in two different states, and the day-to-day busyness that life in another pandemic year brings, it’s been hard to keep up. We’ve unintentionally gone quiet but I had a chance to sit down with Gabi and our team refocused.

For those of you who don’t know, Viva Vida isn’t Gabi’s only endeavor. Her primary focus is being COO of Novo Fogo, a Brazilian spirits company that produces cachaça and canned cocktails. Gabi is very passionate about Novo Fogo because the brand does so much good for Brazil and for the environment.

During this last month, Gabi has had to deal with some health stuff, and between work and the renovations, life has been challenging. Setting out to renovate two homes simultaneously comes with the knowledge that you’re going to have some setbacks. Like anything that requires coordination, the Viva Vida team expected some hiccups along the way, but when the timing of Gabi’s health obstacles coincided with her husband Danny’s back injury, the pressure was on.

While this season has been overwhelming, Gabi shared that she’s learned a tremendous lesson during the renovations of her homes: to be very cognizant of the energy you put out, especially during hard times. This isn’t a renovation-specific lesson, it’s one that our team is grateful to learn and apply outside of Viva Vida.

Energy is the sixth sense—while it isn’t tangible, energy is definitely something you can feel. When you have stress in your life and exude negative energy, it affects the tension in a room and negatively impacts those who you come in contact with. The same goes for positive energy. The feeling in a room totally changes when good vibes are present. Good or bad, energy is contagious!

Because of these lessons, the importance of the energy that you put out into the world was magnified this past month for team Viva Vida. Gabi told me that although this time has been exceptionally difficult, she’s “put my best Gabi out there” knowing that her attitude will have a trickle-down effect with those she’s interacting with. Approaching projects with alignment and a positive outlook has generated so much good!

This outlook was inspired by a profound video illustrating the impact our energy has on others, especially during a renovation. We encourage you to watch this video, it’s made such a difference for our team!
